I chose to do a little research on Jet Blue, a rising airline company. I thought they would be interesting because somehow, even in these poor economic times, they seem to be thriving and continuing to innovate. The company started in 2000 with the idea of quality at the helm. They wanted to keep customer costs low while offering an array of things other airlines couldn't. For instance, every seat on Jet Blue's planes has their own personal TV. I reviewed the companies mission statement on this website and I understand their success now. Jet Blue offers some of the best benefits of any airline company in existence. Every medical insurance available as well as a stock purchase plan caught my eye as some of the most impressive. I also think that their view on diversity is a major reason for their success. They have instated programs to help those that are differently abled and they also support and make a conscious effort to employ veterans. On top of all this, the website also has a section that contains real stories from current employees that are all about their experiences with the company. Personally, I have never seen that on a company website before but I do think it is a very strategic move. It gives applicants confidence when applying and it also helps support the work community at Jet Blue.
Jet Blue has stayed in business due to the fact of the quality of the product that they offer. Their luxury flying is unlike any other airliner in the world. Their differentation strategy is a risky one to implement, especially in the airline business where financial stability faces alot of uncertainity. They have remained to be grab a large part of the market much like how Buckle has with their $150 and up pair of jeans. People don't only buy the jeans because of the way they look, but rather a status symbol. Perhaps that is one reason why Jet Blue has been able to continue its rise in the airline industry.

I like Jet Blue and I'm glad you chose them. They are a business that continues to put cutomer service first and foremost. This is a major reason they lead the industry. Why should there be a first class? Just have a plane decked out in luxury for all the customers. If they can get that for the same price as business/economy class, they are going to buy Jet Blue. Great business, and great business model as well.
ReplyDeleteI have never flew in a plane by Jet Blue but after reading this article I am very intreged and what to learn more aobut their business. I love how they have their own personal television built in on each seat. I am not surprised they are climbing to the top of their company.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I haven't heard a lot about Jet Blue before but from your blog it seems like a great company to work for. Any company that has been able to keep growing during these tough economic times has to be doing something right. The fact that they want to keep there customers happy with low pricing and tv's for each seat shows that they are committed to there customers, while they also offer great things for all employees.
